Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Plan

Whether you're envisioning a beautiful wedding, a corporate gathering, or a unique day with our Highland cows, here's the information you need to plan with confidence.

Venues & Events

Booking & the Grounds

What is your policy for rescheduling due to weather or other circumstances?

Our venue offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for up to 250 guests, and the Grand White Barn and its Grand Veranda serve as beautiful rain options. For certain extraordinary circumstances, we may be able to reschedule to another available date within the following year. Please note that cancellations are non-refundable.

Do you have liability insurance for weddings and events?

Yes, Cedar Pond Farms carries liability insurance. Some couples also choose to purchase additional third-party event insurance that names the venue as an "additional insured" — we're happy to point you in the right direction.

Is there a corkage fee for bringing your own beverages?

No, we do not charge a corkage fee. However, for alcohol to be served, you must use a licensed and insured bartender service.

What are your rules regarding open flames and fireworks?

We ask that you use LED candles rather than open flames. Fireworks are approved on a case-by-case basis, taking seasonal fire restrictions into account.

Is there a mandatory end time for events?

Music stops at 9:00 PM. Clean-up typically runs from 9–10 PM, with the latest allowable clean-up ending at 11:00 PM.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

You can reserve your date up to eighteen months in advance.

Are there deposits associated with reserving a date?

Yes. Deposits typically range from $500 to $1,200 depending on the event and its size, and are non-refundable. Full payment is due 60 days before your event.

Weddings

Your Farm Wedding

What's the best part of getting married at Cedar Pond Farms?

You get the whole farm to yourselves — a relaxed, private experience in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The modern Grand White Barn offers full facilities and multiple ceremony settings, with the barn and its Grand Veranda as a stunning rainy-day backup. And yes: our Scottish Highland cows are part of the day.

We offer everything from intimate elopements to full-day celebrations, with overnight farm-stay accommodations available. See current packages and pricing on our Wedding Pricing page.

Do you offer overnight accommodations for the wedding party?

Yes. Overnight farm stays can be added to your celebration — for weddings, the Milkbarn and each Barndo rent as whole buildings at $1,500/night (up to 22 guests each), so everyone under the roof is one of yours. Capacities and details are on our Farm Stays and Wedding Pricing pages.

Do we get to choose our ceremony site — and will other events be happening that day?

Your wedding is the only wedding on the farm that day. Day Weddings get the full run of the farm — choose any of our outdoor ceremony sites (or use several), with the Grand White Barn and its Red & Blue Rooms included; the Milkbarn and Milkhouse are available as add-ons. Elopements include the outdoor ceremony spot you choose — a second spot is welcome (vows at one, a sand ceremony at another) — plus the Grand White Barn / Grand Veranda, rather than the run of the whole farm.

What are the Red & Blue Rooms?

Two bonus spaces inside the Grand White Barn, included with your Day Wedding. Couples use them as a groom's ready room, a kid corral, a quiet spot for recording well-wishes to the bride and groom, or simply secure storage for anything valuable. Each has a hand sink, a full-length mirror, a mini-fridge, and a changing closet.

Will we get to see the Highland cows — or is that extra?

The cows are part of the scenery at every wedding: they're out in their pastures, and you and your guests are welcome to visit the fence line and take all the photos you like at no charge. Up-close time — feeding, brushing, and hugging — is a bookable add-on (see Fluffy Cow Encounters, or ask about the Fluffy Cow Cocktail Hour for your reception).

If we book overnight stays, is the property all ours — or could strangers be here too?

Wedding lodging rents by the whole building — the Milkbarn or any Barndo, up to 22 of your guests each at $1,500/night — never by the room, so no unrelated guests ever share a roof with your group. Your day wedding with the Milkbarn and Milkhouse makes the farm side exclusively yours; if other overnight guests are staying at Fairland Ridge across the street, we ask them to keep to their side during your event. For total exclusivity, book the whole farm — every building, all yours. Wedding lodging reserves up to 18 months out and, as part of your wedding booking, carries no local hotel taxes.

What's your rain plan for outdoor weddings?

The Grand White Barn and its Grand Veranda are both spacious, beautiful "plan B" options if the forecast calls for rain — no scrambling required.

Is there a secure space for storing wedding gifts?

Yes! But these secure spaces are a well-kept secret, so — of course — we won't publish them publicly. We'll show you on the day.

What amenities do you provide for weddings?

Wi-Fi, welcome pavilions, a parking meadow, the Milk House / game room, a bridal-party ready room, a catering kitchen, vendor and catering alleys, climate control (including a new AC unit in the Grand White Barn), emergency kits, a music and sound system, and recommended-vendor referrals on request.

Corporate & Groups

Corporate Events

Do companies really host events at Cedar Pond Farms?

Absolutely. Our returning corporate and community clients include Carson-Newman University and the Boys & Girls Club of Dumplin Valley.

Can we set up a dedicated workspace or meeting area?

Yes. The Grand White Barn accommodates larger gatherings, and we have more intimate options for smaller breakout groups and meetings.

Is high-speed internet available?

Yes — high-speed Wi-Fi is available across the venue.

What presentation technology is available?

We have two projectors plus a large 130″ projector screen, along with a podium and a microphone/speaker setup.

What else do you provide for corporate events?

Table and chair setup and breakdown, complimentary coffee, notepads and pens, a catering kitchen, vendor and catering alleys, climate control, and a sound system. We can also arrange Gelato Brothers service and team-bonding experiences like our Fluffy Cow Encounters.

Farm Experiences

Fluffy Cows & More

How does the Fluffy Cow Encounter work?

A coordinator guides your group to groom, pet, and share treats with our Scottish Highland cows while sharing their stories. Encounters include complimentary gelato and coffee afterward. Explore all options on our Experiences page.

How do on-site farm photo shoots work?

Farm photo shoots have a $100 site fee for 90 minutes and up to six people — bring your own photographer. If you'd like Highland cows in your photos, book a Fluffy Cow Encounter alongside your shoot.

When is sunflower season?

Our sunflowers typically bloom from the end of May through early October.

How do the painting experiences work?

Painting sessions are scheduled in advance and promoted on our social channels. They're also available as an add-on to a Fluffy Cow Encounter.

Are gelato and coffee always available?

Our on-site Gelato Brothers shop serves gelato and coffee. It's complimentary with Fluffy Cow bookings and available for weddings and events on request.

What happens if it rains during my Fluffy Cow Encounter?

Heavy rain moves the encounter to the covered Corral Garage porch. In mild rain we proceed at the Cedar Thicket Corral, with rubber shoe covers and umbrella hats provided — the cows don't mind a little weather.
